Man Sues for $20M After Being Mangled in Rock-Crushing Machine
He tripped and fell into the machine, and trapped his arm along the moving conveyor belt.

NEWTOWN, CT — A man is suing a Newtown construction site where he was mangled by a rock crushing machine, the CTPost has reported.
Roy Lawrence, of Bridgeport, suffered a fractured humerus and a traumatic nerve-root tear from the spinal cord, among other injuries, when he tripped and fell into the machine, and trapped his arm along the moving conveyor belt. The suit, filed in Bridgeport Superior Court, seeks $10 million in damages against the machine's manufacturer and another $10 million from W.I. Clark of Wallingford that leased the machine to Lawrence’s employer.
The accident occurred in 2016, when Lawrence was assigned by his employer to the former Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown for the demolition of a building. The rock crushing machine allegedly emitted loose stones on which Lawrence tripped, causing him to stumble into danger.
