Man Taken From Rikers Island To Face Newtown Charges: Police
Police said the arrest stems from a 2023 investigation.
NEWTOWN, CT — A Virginia man was transported from Rikers Island prison in New York to Newtown last week to face charges stemming from a 2023 investigation, according to police.
On June 13, members of the Newtown Police Department traveled to Rikers Island to take Jon Wesley Raynor, 54, into custody on an active arrest warrant related to an incident reported on Pumpkin Lane in September 2023, police said.
Raynor was charged with third-degree identity theft, criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny and two counts of first-degree forgery, according to police.

Police said Raynor posted 7 percent of a $10,000 bond and was released with a June 26 court date at Danbury Superior Court.
