Meetings Aim to Gather Support for Newtown Community Center
Officials are gathering support for the project before it goes to referendum.

Two informational sessions are planned to give residents information on the proposed community center in Newtown.
The meetings are scheduled for March 10 at 6 p.m. and March 24 at 7 p.m.
The town plans to build the center with a $15 million gift from Fairfield-based General Electric, the News Times reports. The center would feature a two-pool aquatic center and rooms for senior activities and recreation.

The project will go to residents for referendum on April 28.
According to the News Times, GE donated the money to Newtown one year after the Sandy Hook school shootings for a community center.
