New York Man Accused Of Robbery, Larceny In Newtown Oil Theft: PD

The suspect was arrested by Newtown police on a warrant on Monday.

NEWTOWN, CT — A 27-year-old Yonkers, New York, man was arrested on a warrant charging him with robbery, larceny and assault in connection with the theft of oil, according to authorities.

Jonathan J. Garces turned himself in at Newtown police headquarters on Monday and was charged with the following:

  • Third-degree robbery
  • Fourth-degree larceny
  • Sixth-degree larceny
  • Third-degree assault

Details of the case were not disclosed, but according to Newtown Police Sgt. Jeff Silver, the incident occurred in "the area of Mt. Pleasant [Road] in June."

Garces was held in lieu of bail of $50,000, and he is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on March 15.
