Newtown Again to Consider Declining School Enrollment Decisions

Hawley Elementary School closing down was considered, but a decision was postponed after much contention.

Newtown will once again take up the conversation about how to best deal with declining school enrollment on Saturday.

The Board of Education considered closing Hawley Elementary School, but the decision was postponed over the summer after much contention, according to the News-Times.

There was concern that emotions would run over with the new Sandy Hook Elementary School opening. A trauma specialist suggested that community tensions would set back recovery efforts after the 2012 shooting.
