Newtown Budget Vote Results Are In

Turnout was very light -- estimated at only 17 percent.

NEWTOWN, CT — Voters approved a $117 million budget Tuesday that carries a 1 percent increase in the tax rate, the News-Times is reporting.

Propositions for a $1.7 million bond to replace the Middle Gate School roof, and a $1.5 million bond to resurface roads were also approved.

Turnout was estimated at about 2,600 voters, or less than 17 percent of the eligible electorate.
