Honan shares with Patch why he should be elected to the Legislative Council.

NEWTOWN, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Newtown and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.
Newtown Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.
Daniel T. Honan is running for Legislative Council in the second district as a Democrat. He has been a funeral director for 38 years at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown. He is in his fourth term on the council.

Building a tax base that is less reliant on residential properties. I will
support the efforts of the Economic and Community Development
Commission.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates
seeking this post?
My experience. I am seeking my fifth term on the Legislative Council. I
currently chair the Education Committee of the Council and serve on the
Municipal Operations Committee
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder
failed the community (or district or constituency)?
I believe that one of the most important services government can provide is
to educate our children. I am a firm believer of funding education so that
the needs of all children are met.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle
this job?
The last two education budgets were passed in the annual budget
referendum.
