Newtown Community Center Referendum Scheduled for April 5
Voters will get the chance to decide the fate of the proposed community center.

NEWTOWN, CT- Town voters will have the chance to decide the fate of the proposed roughly $15 million community center with a referendum vote.
The vote is scheduled for April 5 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. at 11 Queen Street, Newtown Middle School Gymnasium.

The question on the ballot will be: “Shall the $14,550,000 special appropriation and $5,000,000 bond authorization for the planning, design, and construction of a Newtown Community Center be approved?”

Absentee ballots are available for the referendum. The town clerk's office will have special absentee voting hours on April 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Any person who is eligible to vote by absentee ballot may apply in person or by mail to the Town Clerk of Newtown. Click here for application.
Election, Primary, Referendum Absentee Ballot Application Absentee ballots can be returned in person to the Town Clerk by 4:30 pm Monday, April 4th or by mail before the closing of the polls on Referendum day, i. e. 8 p.m., April 5, 2016.
