The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
One of the most pressing issues facing our town is the importance of equality and opportunity for everyone. My role on the Board of Assessment Appeals is to make sure everyone’s taxes are fair and to correct any mistakes in tax assessments.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
I am currently serving on the Board of Assessment Appeals. I love helping others. I am a good listener, and I know how to ask the questions that help people explain their assessment problems. I’m also rigorously honest, and an excellent problem solver. These are all skills that have helped the B.A.A. find solutions to the appeals people have brought to us.
Accomplishments:
My experience selling real estate, building onto my home, and fixing cars have all helped me to know about real and personal property values. I’m a 40 year veteran of the classroom, so I’m very patient, and I know how to resolve disputes!
Other issues:
This position is not about partisan politics; it’s about being able to hear people’s concerns and solve their problems. Anyone who takes the time to come to the B.A.A. deserves to be treated with respect and to have their concerns heard and their problems resolved efficiently and equitably.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
It was my good fortune to move to Newtown in 1985. As a widowed single parent, raising my children here, I was aided by our fabulous schools, and by so many of the good families of Newtown. It means a lot to me to have the opportunity to give back by helping other people. I’d be honored if you would vote to keep me on the Board of Assessment Appeals.
