The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

The divisiveness that has impacted the nation is also an issue here in Newtown. I want to represent my town, regardless of party affiliation. I will listen to everyone with a solution and along with my diligent research, and make sound decisions with the intention to serve the greater good.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I have a distinctively different background than the other candidates. I have worked in public health, education, risk management, patient safety, and quality improvement. From this experience, I know how to evaluate the literature and recognize when I need to engage an expert opinion. This is not something everyone recognizes. I know I will not always have the answers, but I know how to find them.

Accomplishments:

Volunteerism is an important part of civic responsibility and I have and will continue to do my part as a resident of Newtown. As a registered nurse of 20 years, I am no stranger to hard work, listening to others, and collaborating with teams. These are all skills that will help me be effective in my role. I can wear my risk management hat to think about the downstream impact of the decisions I make and think strategically to ensure I ask the right questions.

Other issues:

Naturally, as a nurse, and I am concerned about the health and safety of my town and will support measures that focus on keeping people safe. I will advocate for underserved and under represented people in my community and ensure that education will continue to be a priority.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

I consider myself a lifelong learner. There is a lot to learn and I am up for the task. I will seek to understand the perspectives of others and acknowledge at times we need to agree to disagree.
