The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
This is from a Finance perspective. Our town is a beautiful quaint town but a lot of the buildings and infrastructure is aging. Big capital investments are required. I hope to help inform and engage town residents as this should be a dialog that involves everyone - not just the various boards in town. Less than one tenth of the voters participated in the budget vote earlier this year. #VoterEducation.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
We have a well qualified set of candidates and I can't speak for them. However, people who know me speak of my ability to dig deep, and thoroughly analyze and have creative ideas to solve problems. All in an extremely collaborative manner.
Accomplishments:
Most recently and I served on the Fairfield Hills Master Plan review committee. I have been on the leadership team (elder board) of my church for the last 15 years. I am also on the regional district board of the denomination my church is affiliated and the current chair of the finance team. Professionally I have been in the commodity trading business for 32 years and am fluent with financial markets and global economic issues.
Other issues:
The excellent school system and the open spaces and the affordability of the town are reasons we moved here. Most folks probably agree me on this. I will strive to maintain these even as we prepare for the future with fiscally sound and sustainable growth.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I really enjoy connecting with people. It is important to listen and understand before forming conclusions. I do believe we need to better inform and involve the residents of the decisions we need to make. I excel at making complex issues understandable and will work hard for a better future for Newtown.
