Newtown Emergency Crews Tackle Oil Spill After Truck Overturns
The truck struck a utility pole, then overturned and began spilling its approximately 2,200 gallons of oil.
NEWTOWN, CT — Police and fire crews responded Monday morning after an oil truck crashed and began spilling its contents in the area of 82 New Lebbon Road in Newtown.
The call came at approximately 7:25 a.m.
According to the Newtown police, an investigation determined that the truck was traveling on New Lebbon Road and left the roadway. The truck struck a utility pole, then overturned and began spilling its approximately 2,200 gallons of oil.

On hand to assist the Newtown Police were Sandy Hook Fire Department, the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, Eversource, Newtown Public Works Department and Hilario's towing.
The truck driver, from Naugatuck, was not injured, and the accident remains under investigation.
