Newtown Fairfield Hills Project Advances
The town voted to spend $5 million to demolish a building at the site.
Newtown is slowly but surely moving ahead on demolishing the old Fairfield Hills site in an attempt to make it a new site for restaurants, offices and stores.
Taxpayers voted to approve $5 million to demolish the building, according to the News-Times. The town has put $33 million into the site including the money to purchase the land.
The state has also given the town $1.7 million in grants.

At one time the hospital had 4,000 patients and 3,000 employees.
