Newtown Firefighters Tackle Burning Car, 5-Car Crash, On I-84 [VIDEO]
Crews from Newtown Hook & Ladder were kept busy over the weekend, extricating a trapped driver and extinguishing a car fire on I-84.

NEWTOWN, CT — Firefighters were kept busy over the weekend with one car fire and another multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 84.
At 5:54 Saturday evening, crews from Newtown Hook & Ladder were dispatched to I-84 Crews from Newtown Hook & Ladder to assist Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 in the aftermath of a 5-car collision. NH&L firefighters used their Hurst edraulic combi-tool "Jaws of Life" to extricate a driver.
As the weekend was drawing to a close, crews from Newtown Hook & Ladder responded at 2:43 a.m. Monday for what they described as a fully-involved car fire and adjacent brush fire.

The blaze was brought under control quickly, and the roadway cleared at 3:28 a.m., according to fire officials posting on social media.
