Newtown Gives Update On Power Outages

Much work still has to be done to bring power back to a few hundred people in town.

NEWTOWN, CT — Town officials said that those without power as of 7 p.m. likely will be in the dark through tonight.

There were around 1,300 homes without power Friday morning and crews managed to get that number down to 483 by 7 p.m. However, Eversource crews are tied up with damage across the state and neighboring crews in other states are busy repairing their own damage.

"At this point, we do not expect that there will be much ground gained this evening, however we do expect a great deal of progress tomorrow. That being said, it is possible that single or very small outage groups could extend to Sunday..." town officials said in a statement.
