[Updated] BREAKING: Newtown High School is on 'Lock-In'
Nobody is allowed to enter or exit the building.

Newtown Superintendent, Dr. Joseph Erardi, Jr. said in a press release Tuesday that Newtown High School was placed in a lock-in at approximately 1:10 p.m. due to a threat against the high school, “and only the high school.” The lock-in was lifted at 1:55 p.m. and students were dismissed following normal procedures.
A parent’s meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the high school this evening to answer any questions.

Newtown High School is currently on lock-in. The superintendent was not available for comment and a secretary in the superintendent’s office had no further information.

A secretary at the high school said she could not elaborate on the reason for the lock-in, but that everyone is safe and they are “going about their normal business.”
