Newtown Home Sold Without Owner's Knowledge: Police
Police arrested a Willington man after they say he fraudulently sold a Newtown man's house, without the owner's knowledge.
NEWTOWN, CT — Police arrested a Willington man after they say he fraudulently sold a Newtown man's house.
The investigation was begun after the legitimate homeowner found that his residence had been sold, and paperwork for the sale had been filed with the town, without his knowledge or authorization.
Police say the trail to the arrest of Edwin Robert Lewis on Wednesday led through numerous interviews with involved parties, several search and seizure warrants, and the review of numerous financial documents.

Lewis was charged with second-degree money laundering, first-degree identity theft, first-degree larceny, criminal impersonation and second-degree forgery. He posted a $150,000 surety bail bond and was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Aug. 11.
