Newtown Man Assaults Elderly Victim, Runs Naked Through Woods: PD

NEWTOWN, CT —A man attacked a family member then ran off naked through the woods, police are reporting.

Newtown police were called to a residence on Bonnie Brae Drive at approximately 10 p.m. Monday. Officers were informed that one family member, Kevin McCarthy, 26, of Newtown, attacked another family member and then fled the residence.

McCarthy was apprehended when police received a report from a resident on Brushy Hill Road of a naked man on their back deck.

Police charged McCarthy with Disorderly Conduct, Strangulation/Suffocation Third Degree, and Assault Third Degree/Elderly Victim. The victim refused medical attention.

McCarthy was held overnight on a $10,000 bond and taken to court Tuesday.
