'The Voice' Finale: We Have a Winner

Sawyer Fredericks, 16, a Connecticut native, learned his fate on the popular reality TV show that aired on NBC tonight.

After a long finale of ‘The Voice’ with many star studded performances, Newtown native Sawyer Fredericks came out victorious winning the singing competition.

This is Connecticut’s second reality TV star in less than a week, just after Nick Fradiani Jr. was crowned the 14th American Idol.

Joshua Davis for ‘Team Adam’ came in at third place and ‘Team Pharrell’s’ Koryn Hawthorne came in fourth place. Meghan Linsey on ’Team Blake Shelton’ came in at second place.

Fredericks is the second person with ties to Connecticut to win ‘The Voice’ as Javier Colon won in the first season back in 2011.

‘The Voice’ finale started with all four finalists singing “Carry On” by Fun.

It then turned to another Fun classic, “Some Nights” where the finalists were joined by the Top 20 contestants on the show.

A few star performances at the show included Meghan Trainor, former American Idol winner, “Kelly Clarkson,” Maroon 5, Sheryl Crow and Luke Bryan. The four judges also sang, “The Thrill is Gone” to honor late blues singer B.B. King.

Sawyer stole the show and rocked out with none other than Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty.

Fredericks, 16, lived in Newtown before moving to Upstate New York in 2007.

During the course of the show, Fredericks sang “Please” a single written for him by Ray LaMontagne. A singer, guitarist and a prolific songwriter, Fredericks has written over three dozen songs. He first learned to play the guitar in 2007.
