Newtown Parks & Rec Announces 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest
Participants will "adopt" a Fairfield Hills lamp post during the month of October, and build their scarecrow upon it.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Parks & Recreation Department is inviting residents, families, businesses, sports teams and community organizations to participate in its 5th Annual Scarecrow Contest.
Participants will "adopt" a Fairfield Hills lamp post during the month of October, and build their scarecrow upon it. Work on scarecrows will be conducted from October 2-25.
Rules and applications are available online here. Payment of $25 per lamp post will be due at the Parks & Rec Office at 8 Simpson Street by Oct. 18.

Residents will vote online for their favorite scarecrow from Oct. 26-30, with the winner announced on Oct. 31. Categories include "Most Original," "Newtown Pride," and "People's Choice."
Prizes include a Summer 2025 Family Pool & Beach Membership Pass or assorted tier prizes donated by local businesses.
