Newtown Plans Big Cinco De Mayo Festivities
Food trucks, live music and special kids' activities are all part of the celebration.

NEWTOWN — Food trucks and live music will fill Tier One Field,31 Pecks Lane, on May 5 when Newtown's Cinco de Mayo festival rages from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Mexico's observance of its victory over the French at the battle of Puebla in 1862 has been adopted in the U.S. as a celebration of Mexican culture. The year in Newtown, the festival has partnered with Dylan’s Wings of Change, a foundation established to honor the memory of Dylan Hockley, who was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
Food is rolling in from Donut Crazy, DrewbaQ, FD Chefs, Four Flours Baking Company, Liberty Rock Tavern, Caseus Cheese Truck, Chompers, Prime 16 Tap House and Burgers, Sherman’s Tap House, SWAT-Southern Wings and Things, Christiano’s Mobile, My Mixed Grill, Pork Friends & Company, and Weenie Lynn’s.

In addition to the food trucks, there will be artisans, a Kid’s Zone with a bounce house, a craft beer tent hosted by New Belgium Brewing Company, and a margarita bar. Live music will be provided by the Alpaca Gnomes, Remember September, and Fingersleeve , among others.
Tickets will be $10 each or $5 for children ages 5 to 12 and free for children under age 5.
