Newtown Police Announce DUI Checkpoints
Checkpoints announced for the final weeks of 2015.

Newtown Police have announced a DUI checkpoint for Friday Dec. 18 in addition to a New Year’s Eve checkpoint.
Officers will set-up a checkpoint on a road in Newtown on the evening of Dec. 18. It will last into the early morning hours of Dec. 19.
Two extra officers will be on patrol specifically to conduct DUI enforcement.

The department received a $58,000 grant from the Department o Transportation to help cover the costs of DUI patrols and sobriety checkpoints for 2015 and 2016. It will cover 75 percent of associated costs.
