Newtown Police Blotter: Machete Road Rage, Payment Card Theft

NEWTOWN, CT — Larceny and road rage were at the top of the Newtown Police Department blotter on Monday.

At around 12:30 p.m. the police were called to investigate a report of road rage in the area of South Main Street and Mile Hill Road.

One driver exited his car with a machete and used it to cause damage to the other driver's vehicle, according to the report given to police.

Police are seeking the public's assistance to track down the man, described as a "tan skinned male, approximately 5'10"- 6'0", short brown hair and wearing a baggy t-shirt." The suspect was driving a tan colored, 4-door sedan bearing Florida registration plates, according to police.

Also on Monday, Anthony Brezac, 50, of Sugar Hollow Road in Danbury, turned himself in to the Newtown Police after being advised of an active warrant for his arrest.

Police accused Brezac of taking a credit card from a local business and then using it at a store in Danbury. He was charged with sixth-degree larceny and payment card theft.

Brezac was released on a $1,000 cash bond, and is scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on Sept. 6.
