Newtown Police Department Looks To Hire New Officers
Starting salary for a new police officer in Newtown is $60,119.

NEWTOWN, CT — The Newtown Police Department is looking to hire three new officers to round out its complement of positions, according to Sgt. Jeff Silver.
A full squad of officers is 45, and the department is currently at 42, Silver told Patch, and Newtown will fill the vacancies with either entry level officers, or already certified officers who transfer from another department.

To be eligible to apply for the Newtown Force, a candidate must meeting the following minimum requirements:

- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a G.E.D.
- No felony, domestic violence, A misdemeanor or B misdemeanor criminal convictions.
- at least 21 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States of America.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Candidates must successfully complete a written exam, physical agility test, polygraph, oral exam, background investigation, medical exam, and other criteria.
