Newtown Readies Residents for Extreme Temperatures
Warming Centers and other emergency services are being deployed.
NEWTOWN, CT — Town officials are urging residents to be prepared for severe cold weather. The area is forecast to experience bitter cold temperatures, resulting in zero to negative wind chill factors, from Wednesday evening into the weekend.
The following warming centers have been made available:
- The Municipal Center, at Fairfield Hills
- Monday thru Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. and Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
- Cyrenius Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Newtown
- Tel (203) 426-4533.
- Monday through Thursday – 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road, Sandy Hook
- Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

- Building is open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. $3 movies
