Newtown Republican Primary: William Rodgers Claims Party's Nomination For First Selectman
Local Republicans voted in a primary Tuesday.

NEWTOWN, CT — Newtown Republican Board of Selectmen member William Rodgers won the party's nomination to run for First Selectman in Tuesday's primary, defeating Mary Ann Jacob, reports the News-Times.
According to unofficial results, Rodgers received 636 votes, compared to Jacob's 464. Rodgers' running mate, Jeff Capeci, who also serves as Chair of the Newtown Republican Town Committee, was also victorious and will run for a selectman seat. He defeated Neil Chaudhary by an unofficial vote tally of 568 to 441.
Additionally, incumbent Town Clerk Debbie Aurelia Halstead defeated challenger Ann LoBosco for the Republican Town Clerk nomination, unofficially 591 to 476.
