Newtown Residents to Vote on Budget

A $1.7 million bond to replace the Middle Gate Elementary School roof, and a $1.5 million bond to repave roads, are also on the ballot.

NEWTOWN, CT — Residents will vote Tuesday on the town's proposed $117 million budget that carries with it a 1 percent tax increase.

The proposed budget represents a spending increase of $2.4 million and a tax rate of 34.24 per $1,000 of assessed property value. A proposition for a $1.7 million bond to replace the Middle Gate Elementary School roof, and a $1.5 million bond to repave roads, are also on the ballot.

Polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
