Newtown School Administrator Elected to Hall of Honor

He and six other honorees will be feted at a special ceremony in late October.

NEWTOWN, CT — A prominent school administrator from Newtown will be one of seven honorees in the second class of the Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Hall of Honor.

Al Cramer has been serving CAS-CIAC in some capacity since the early 1970s. As a principal at Newtown High School, he was instrumental in the creation of the CIAC Football Championship while serving as a CIAC committee member, and later joined the organization as Assistant Executive Director. He continues to serve as a consultant to several CIAC committees.

  • Katharine “Kit” Bishop, Westbrook
  • Robert “Jiggs” Cecchini, Suffield
  • Ray Faustich, Trumbull/Ridgefield
  • Tom Monahan, Bristol
  • Charles Sharos, South Windsor
  • Ivan Wood, Plainville

Monahan, Sharos and Wood will be honored posthumously.

The CAS-CIAC Hall of Honor was established to honor individuals who have made significant long-term contributions to CAS-CIAC in one of seven categories: educational leadership, athletic leadership, friend of education, contribution to education, contribution to athletics, service to education, or service to athletics.

The induction will take place Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington. Tickets to the event may be purchased here.
