The Newtown NewArts group that is presenting a youth production of 'School of Rock The Musical' headed to New York City on Sunday on an important field trip.
Members of the NewArts wing of the 1214 Foundation in Newtown CT had what was called "an amazing time" seeing a performance of School of Rock the Musical currently running on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre. After the show they got to meet some of the cast and a few cast members posed for photos with their Broadway cast counterparts. "It's amazing preparation and inspiration for their own production in August," posted Van Dean of Broadway Records.

SCHOOL OF ROCK THE MUSICAL
A brand new musical based on the famous Paramount film written by Mike White, which starred Jack Black. The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academic work, Dewey decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. The stage musical on Broadway is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has composed 14 new songs to create a score, which also features all of the original songs from the movie. SCHOOL OF ROCK, with its sensational live kids' rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. May the spirit of rock be with you!
SCHOOL OF ROCK is presented through special arrangement wtih R & H Theatricals and The Really Useful Gruop, Ltd.www.rnh.com
The NewArts students will be under the direction of professional directors, choreographers, set and costume designers, stage craftsmen, sound and lighting engineers.
