Newtown Schools to Comply with Unified Calendar
A new state law will require Newtown and nearby school districts to adopt a regional calendar by next fall.
A new law will require Bethel and neighboring school districts to cooperate with their 180-day school schedule, according to the New Milford Spectrum.
The Education Connection region includes Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, Newtown, Region 1, Region 6, New Milford and Sherman.
The change is being made to help districts save money so that school buses to the one regional school still open during a break. The unified schedule will also cut down on professional development costs and give some families common vacation times.
