Newtown Teen Charged with Car Theft: Police
The cops nabbed him for the October felony when he showed up in court to face charges in another case.

NEWTOWN, CT —Police arrested a local teen Thursday for stealing a car earlier this year while he was appearing in court on an unrelated matter.
Bryan Gomez, 18, of Newtown , was charged by police with third-degree larceny stemming from an incident on Oct. 1 when a stolen Volkswagen Jetta was abandoned on Bancroft Road near the intersection with Pole Bridge Road after getting into a collision on the highway. The incident triggered a Code Red alert and a search of the residential area by police and K9 units after the driver, who police later identified as Gomez, fled the scene.
Gomez is being held at Danbury Court on $5,000 bond.
