Michelle Embree Ku, a member of Newtown's Legislative Council, has announced her campaign for Connecticut's 106th House District.

NEWTOWN, CT — Michelle Embree Ku officially announced her campaign for Connecticut's 106th House District on Monday. She has filed to run in the November 2026 general election. The 106th District includes the entire town of Newtown.

Embree Ku stated her campaign focuses on the community. "This campaign is about people — not politics," Embree Ku said in a news release. She added that it aims to ensure Newtown's voices are heard in Hartford and that decisions reflect local concerns.

Embree Ku has served in various local leadership roles for over a decade. Her past service includes positions on the Legislative Council, the Board of Selectmen, and as Chair of the Newtown Board of Education. She has also held appointments on statewide boards and commissions. In addition to her public service, Embree Ku maintains a professional career in science and research.
