No More Water Skiing for Disabled Off Lake Zoar in Newtown

The town has reached an agreement with the organization that taught water skiing to the disabled.

NEWTOWN, CT — Disabled water skiers will no longer be able to use the Zeisler property off of Lake Zoar to access the Housatonic River, The News Times has reported.

The town has reached an agreement with LOF Adaptive Skiers, the non-profit organization founded by property owner Joel Zeisler, which forbids the organization from using the property for any of the organization's functions. Zeisler and LOF Adaptive Skiers have been teaching water skiing to the disabled for more than 30 years on that property.

The property, however, is in a residential zone, and neighbors have complained about the noise and traffic they say the organization generates.
