Nov. 23 Soccerthon for Charity at Newtown Youth Academy
Nov. 23 indoor soccerthon at NYA in Newtown will benefit youth players around the world. Teens and adults of all skill levels are welcome.

Newtown, CT—Newtown Youth Academy will host a 12-hour soccer marathon on Nov. 23, to benefit underprivileged youth players in CT and abroad. Proceeds will be split between the scholarship fund for the AC Connecticut Premier League team, and Futbol Friends International, a Woodbury nonprofit that works with partners around the world to purchase soccer gear for needy kids.
The marathon, called Six2Six, runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the indoor soccer facility at Newtown Youth Academy, located at 4 Primrose St. in the old Fairfield Hills Complex off Rt. 84, exit 11, in Newtown. Players of all skill levels, from 14 to adult, are welcome to pre-register at www.FFIUSA.org or register at the event. Players under 14 are also welcome, but only as full teams of 8 or more, to play against kids of similar ages.
Donations are $10 per hour of play, or $25 for unlimited play, and each player gets a game shirt of their choosing. Snacks, refreshments and lunch will be available, and a pot-luck celebration follows the event from 6 to 8 p.m. with the fields staying open for additional play. Organizers will also hold a number of raffles and skills competitions throughout the day.
“It’s a great way to get some exercise before Turkey Day, and share your love of soccer with kids around the world,” said Futbol Friends spokesman Asa Christiana. For more info email: achristiana66@gmail.com.
