Her devotion to teaching children and embracing family and friends was a driving force in her life. People gravitated to Carol because of her positive and warm energy. In 2003, Carol sadly lost her husband, who was also a revered middle school educator in the Monroe school system. Carol then found a new meaning in life with partner Joseph Porto. Over the last 18 years, they traveled the world seeking adventure, cooking for their families, lounging by the pool, and soaking in the love of their eight grandchildren.

Carol was present for everyone, forever young at heart and always ready for a new experience. Well-read and well versed, she could hold a thoughtful conversation with anyone at any time, whether hiking with a friend or shopping at Lake George. And who could ever forget those blue eyes.

Carol was an extraordinary life partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her brother Roger Webb of Dallas, Texas, her children Douglas DelVecchio and wife Jacqueline of Fairfield and Megan Gagnon and husband Jayson of Sandy Hook. She was a devoted grandmother to Drew, Luke, Reese, Jackson, Jace, Ella, Patton, and Cameron.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday July 31, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Rose Church of Lima, 46 Church Hill Road Newtown, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 208 S. Main Street, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
