Obituary: Charles Edward Shepard Jr., 69, Of Sandy Hook

NEWTOWN, CT — Charles Edward Shepard Jr. of Sandy Hook passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2023, surrounded by family.

"Chuck" was born on June 22, 1954. He was the first son of the late Marilyn Houle Shepard and Charles Edward Shepard Sr. and was a graduate of Newtown High school. Chuck was a man of many trades who had a passion for carpentry and muscle cars. He also delighted friends and family with his talent for a well-timed snarky joke. Chuck loved being with generations of his family, sharing stories and laughing together. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Chuck’s parents, his sister Sharon Burch and nephew George Burch pre-deceased him. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Shepard, his daughter Trisha Ostrander and her husband William Ostrander, daughter Audra Westphal and her husband Max Westphal, daughter Samantha Shepard, his son Charles Edward Shepard III, his granddaughters Vivian and Marilyn Westphal, his brother Alan Shepard and wife Linda Shepard, his brother Kevin Shepard and wife Patricia Shepard, and by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to pay condolences to Chuck’s family on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, from 1-3:30 p.m., with a service to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT. Interment will be private.
