Obituary: Christina Alvarez, 32, of Sandy Hook

NEWTOWN, CT - Christina (Dvornek) Alvarez, 32, of Sandy Hook, formerly of Danbury, wife of Braulio Javier “Jay” Alvarez, died on Monday, April 2, 2018 at Regional Hospice Center for Comfort care and Healing, Danbury.

Christina was born in Danbury, December 27, 1985, daughter of Peter J. Dvornek of Johns Creek, Georgia and Donna (Sabella) Dvornek of Bridgeport, Connecticut. She attended Danbury schools, Danbury High School-Class of 2004 and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Western CT State University.

A lifelong area resident, Christina was a wait staff member at the Southwest Café of Ridgefield.

She was a member of the CT Special Needs Families Networking Group.

In addition to her husband and parents, Christina is survived by a son, Javier Alvarez; a daughter, Ciana Alvarez; two brothers, Peter J. Dvornek and Michael T. Dvornek both of Danbury; her paternal grandmother, Olga Dvornek of Tinton Falls, NJ; her maternal grandfather, John Sabella of North Carolina; her in laws, Braulio and Celia Alvarez of Ecuador; her father’s wife, Karen Dvornek of Johns Creek, Georgia; sisters in law, brothers in law, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Christina was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Peter Dvornek and by her maternal grandmother, Ursula “Dolly” Sabella.

A Funeral Home service will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury with Deacon Peter Kuhn of St. Joseph Church, Brookfield officiating.

Interment will take place at the direction of the family.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, (between Osborne & White Streets), Danbury on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
