Obituary: Francis "Tim" Shanley, 70, of Newtown

NEWTOWN, CT -- Francis "Tim" Shanley, age 70 of St. Augustine, Florida, formally of Bridgeport and Newtown, died July 19, 2018 at Bailey Community Hospice after a long bout with lung cancer surrounded by family and friends.Tim was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Holly "Reck" Shanley.

Tim was born in Bridgeport on May 12, 1948. He was the son of Francis Joseph Shanley and Margaret "Gillotti" Shanley. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army. After his service in the Army, he joined the Connecticut State Troopers and retired after 20 years of service. Upon his retirement he and Holly partnered in the real estate business in Connecticut and Florida.

Tim is survived by his daughter Jennifer Shanley of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts along with three beautiful granddaughters, Madison, Paige, and Jillian; his sister, Patricia "Shanley" Decker; his brother and sister in-law Bruce and Mary Lou Reck; sisters in-law Pam Reck and Robin "Reck" Burns, along with several nieces and nephews.

In memory of Tim, donations may be made to the above organizations.Arrangements are being handled by Craig Funeral Home, 1475 Old Dixie Highway, St. Augustine, Florida 32084. Interment will be at the discretion of the family.
