Obituary: Holly Jean Troccolla, 58

Forever generous and caring, Holly pursued a nursing degree while raising three adolescent children.

The following obituary of Newtown resident Holly Jean Troccolla, 58, is from Honan Funeral Home:

Holly Jean Troccolla, age 58 of Newtown passed away at her home Tuesday, February 1, 2022 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Holly was born and raised in Danbury, daughter of the late Robert and Marlene (Anderson) Underhill, before settling down and raising a family with the love of her life and best friend in Newtown.

Forever generous and caring, Holly pursued a nursing degree while raising three adolescent children. After graduation, she dedicated her life to caring for “her guys” at a group home through Ability Beyond Disability and in the latter years became a caretaker for “Pops”, a family friend. All of whom absolutely adored her.

Holly had an uncanny ability to find happiness and humor in even the most mundane activities. Perpetually optimistic, she believed no feat was too big to conquer. Holly’s fun and carefree personality was contagious to everyone she met.

Holly is survived by her husband, David Troccolla Sr.; her son David Troccolla Jr.; her two daughters, Jessica Troccolla and Cortney Troccolla; her brother, Robert Underhill Jr.; her sister in law, Karen Underhill; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her brother, Frederick Underhill. Holly's cheerfulness and bright smile will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Cremation will take place at the direction of the family. Her family and friends held a celebration of life on Feb. 13. Contributions in her memory may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
