NEWTOWN, CT — Joseph Cennamo, Jr. 79, passed away on June 21, 2023, in his home in Newtown. Joe was born February 17, 1944, in Bridgeport. He is predeceased by his parents Elma (Swales) and Joseph Cennamo, Sr. as well as his brother Louis Cennamo.

Joseph started his career as a mason and continued successfully in that field for 47 years. Joseph also served on the Fairfield Fire Department for 46 years, rising through the ranks to lieutenant and assistant fire marshall.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Donna Cennamo; his loving children, Angela Silver and her husband Robert of Newtown; John Cennamo of Newtown, and Carlo Cennamo and his partner Jill Freidberg of Seattle; his adored grandchildren Robert and Isabelle Silver, Camilla Cennamo, Josiah and Lucas Cennamo-Rose. His eldest son, Joseph Cennamo, III, passed away in 2020.

Joseph is also survived by his four siblings: Georgia Nielsen; Cheryl Warrington and her husband Kenneth; John Cennamo and his wife, Alice; and Annie O'Connor and her husband Tim, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph was a devoted outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a years-long member of the Newtown Fish & Game Club, as well as Fairfield County Fish & Game. He was an avid music listener and enjoyed everything from Country to the Grateful Dead with Lynyrd Skynyrd topping his diverse list.

A service to celebrate Joseph Cennamo, Jr. will be held on June 24, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield.

Joseph will be forever remembered, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
