SANDY HOOK, CT — Marc Gregory Wiseman, 58, of Sandy Hook, a devoted husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at home on Jan. 27, 2023.

Born in Newport, Rhode Island on Feb. 26, 1964, he was the son of Donald and Gwen Wiseman, who raised him in Connecticut and New Jersey. Following his graduation from Rutgers Preparatory School in New Jersey, Marc graduated from Susquehanna University Selinsgrove, PA, with a bachelor’s degree in business. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western Connecticut State University.

Marc was employed as a business analyst at Anywhere Real Estate based in New Jersey for more than 25 years.

A true Pisces, Marc loved the water – lake, river, ocean, or stream, it didn’t matter. He was most at ease taking a cruise in his boat and was most at home spending quality time with family and friends, including the furry ones.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Benvenuto; his son, Bradley Wiseman of Chaplin, CT; Brad’s mother, Linda Wiseman of Shavertown, PA; his stepson, Ryan Gillinger; his mother, Gwen Wiseman of Newtown CT; his sister, Julie Wiseman and her husband, Saul Umbrasas and their children, Lukas and Justin of San Diego; his in-laws, Ann and Kurt VanSteenbergen of Bridgewater, CT, and Tom and Cathy Benvenuto of Norwalk, CT. He is also survived by many other family and friends, including his brothers-in-law and their families, who will miss him deeply.

Marc was predeceased by his father, and his brother-in-law, Eric VanSteenbergen.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sandy Hook Promise or LOF Adaptive Skiers, organizations Marc felt strongly about.
