Pat and her family moved to Newtown, CT in 1969 where she raised her boys and taught her beloved students. She loved her house, her neighbors and Newtown. She spent most of her teaching career at Middlegate School. She must have been a great teacher as some of her students still visited her!
Pat loved and was well loved by her family, neighbors and so many friends. One of Pat’s favorite things was to have small presents to give to visitors. She loved to look for special items she thought friends or family would like and when she was able, she would shop for them herself. When she could no longer go out, she shopped from home or had some of her special helpers and friends pick up the goodies. No one ever left Pat’s home without some small treasure.

Pat also loved to craft. She made beautiful blankets for her family and other loved ones. She also told amazing stories about even the smallest things. Many of these stories she had the forethought to put on paper and her loved ones will cherish them.
Pat was a devout Christian. She was never far from her Bible which she read daily as it brought her great joy. Her family is comforted knowing that she was at peace and looking forward to meeting her savior.
Pat is survived by her sister Jan Duff of Somers, son Scott Thompson of Norwalk, son Chris Thompson and wife Kim of Woodbury, granddaughter Sierra Thompson and partner Jim of Stockholm, grandson Jack Thompson of Woodbury, many nephews and their spouses and children as well as what her family believes are some of the greatest friends a woman can have. Perhaps one of Pat’s greatest joys was her grandchildren Sierra and Jack who lovingly called her “Granny”. She was so happy to know that Sierra and Jimmy are pregnant and about to make her a “Great Granny”, though we all thought she was a great Granny already!
The Thompson family would like to thank Pat’s friends for everything they have done for her. They brought her so much joy and laughter. Recently the love and support they gave her allowed her to remain in her beloved home and the family appreciates you all ever so much.
Calling hours were at Honan Funeral Home on Wednesday, and a Graveside funeral service was held at Newtown Village Cemetery on Thursday, December 16, at 11 a.m. A reception followed at The Lodge Bar and Grill in Southbury, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Newtown Meals on Wheels, PO Box 122. Newtown, CT 06470 who also helped keep Pat at home!
