Obituary: Virginia Joan Alex, 90, Of Newtown, Nurse
Ginny was active in her community and was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church.

NEWTOWN, CT — Virginia Joan Alex passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2022, at the age of 90.
Born June 19th, 1932, to Virginia and Nicholas Kraus, Ginny as many knew her, graduated from the Wyckoff Heights School of Nursing May 1st, 1952, earning her LPN License. From there Ginny went on to work in Bronx N.Y. where she later met her husband, Robert Alex. They later moved to Newtown, CT.

Ginny went on to work in New Milford Hospital where she continued her career until she retired. She loved being a nurse and was devoted to helping others. Ginny was active in her community and was a member of the Newtown Congregational Church, where she would volunteer at the thrift store. She also volunteered at Kevin’s Clinic, Americares and signed up to take monthly blood pressures at St. Rose of Lima Church.
Ginny loved to square dance with the Rocking Roosters and kept in touch with her friends and co-workers after her retirement for a luncheon or as she would say “My lunch bunch”.

Ginny was preceded in death by her husband Robert H. Alex, her brother Dr. Nicholas C Kraus and grandson Stephen J. Moulton. She is survived by her 3 daughters; Kathy McKeon, Donna Varrone, Linda Hawkins and her husband Trice; granddaughters Diane, Danielle and her husband Dean, Jeff and his wife Dephne, Kristin and her husband Justin, Renee and Aaron.
Ginny was also blessed with 7 great-grandchildren; Matthew, Gabriella, Logan, Kennedy, Aiden, Ariana, and Mariah.
Calling hours will be at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Wednesday, Dec. 28 from noon-2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Newtown Village Cemetery.
