NEWTOWN, CT — Wanda Keegan, 83, of Newtown, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023. Wanda was born and raised in Bridgeport. It was in Bridgeport that she met the love of her life, John Keegan and they married in 1964. Wanda and John were lifelong residents of Newtown. They celebrated 58 years of marriage until John’s unexpected passing in November 2022.
Wanda was employed by the State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills Hospital as a secretary in 1972. She spent decades thoroughly enjoying her job and co-workers until the hospital permanently closed in the 1990s. Later, she became the office manager at Misty Morning Children’s Center and was known as “Miss Wanda.”. Tough as nails and a true stickler for accuracy, she ran a tight ship in the office. Many who remember her during that time will fondly laugh about some of her mannerisms and comments while maintaining her level of integrity. They will also remember her kind and nurturing heart that she showed all of the children who attended the center.
