Porco’s Karate Academy has completed its quarterly testing this summer. During this two-hour test, students of all ages and ranks showed to a panel of black belt instructors everything they had learned during their training in the ancient Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do. Each test is broken up into different sections: hand and feet technique combinations, forms, weapon forms, self-defense techniques with partners, free fighting, rolls, and breaking. An oral test was also conducted by Master Michael Porco Jr, and other black belts, to see how the fundamentals of Tang Soo Do are applied in their daily lives. All students excelled with their efforts, high energy, and unwavering spirit. In celebration, all students received his or her new rank at the end.
Porco’s Karate Academy combines training the art of Tang Soo Do with teaching life lessons, such as perseverance in hard situations and forming friendships with others, as well as respect for yourself and others. This goes hand-in-hand with Tang Soo Do’s philosophy of self-defense and self-betterment. In this way, students grow physically and mentally.
Porco’s Karate Academy has been open for over 30 years teaching Tang Soo Do. The studio is located at 113 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook.
