PKA Kicks it Up at Karate Kid Olympics

Porco’s Karate Academy (PKA) recently participated in the Karate Kid Olympics. Hosted by Beaudoin’s Academy of Karate, the tournament is unique in that only students under the age of sixteen can compete.  The Championship ran smoothly, highlighting the energy and spirit of all competitors.

The competition started with a special session hosted by Grandmaster Robert Beaudoin and led into a special Mother’s Day recognition where students passed out flowers to all mothers. Afterwards, all students competed in different divisions with students from other studios. In order to demonstrate all aspects of the ancient Korean martial art, the tournament had three areas of competition available: open-hand forms, sparring, and breaking. Everyone competed admirably and showed great sportsmanship and high spirits.

Participants from PKA included: Yanni Kousidis (Black Belt; 3rd sparring), Jake Terifay (Black Belt; 2nd sparring, 2nd forms), Mystic Higginsen (Blue Belt; 2nd breaking, 2nd forms), Devin Herbstman (Red Belt), James Hillefeld (Red Belt; 3rd sparring, 1st breaking), Ethan Hillefeld (Brown Belt), Tristan Galipault (Green Belt), Isabella Tourigny (Green Belt; 1st sparring, 3rd breaking), Gavin Galipault (Little Dragon, Spirit Medal), and Ilse Popovic (Little Dragon, Spirit Medal).
