Police Accuse Newtown Woman Of 2023 Burglary

Police accused Jessica Thompson, 39, of stealing "tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands" of art and antique pieces.

NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown woman surrendered herself to the Connecticut State Police on Tuesday, responding to an active warrant.

Police accused Jessica Thompson, 39, of stealing several antique items of value from a residence in Cornwall on Sept. 6, 2023.

Police were alerted to the theft of "tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of paintings, art and antiques" on Sept. 5, 2023. The Cornwall homeowner told police that two contractors in his employ had discovered the "rear door to the residence was left open and it appeared the house had been gone through," according to the affidavit.

Thompson was charged with first-degree larceny and third-degree burglary, and released on a $5,000 surety bond, and scheduled to appear in Torrington Superior Court on July 30.
