Police Blotter, Sept. 14 - 16

Berkshire Road (Route 34): A Toyota, driven by Zachary S. Fitzgerald, 20, of 21 Berkshire Road, and traveling west lost control while negotiating a left hand curve and rolled over twice on the eastbound embankment on Route 34 by its intersection with Zoar Road at about 3:30 a.m., Tuesday, police said. Fitzgerald was taken to Danbury Hospital with unspecified injuries, police said. He received a written warning for restricted turn, police said.

Buttonball Drive: Richard Marotto, 38, of 49 Buttonball Drive was charged with violation of a protective order in connection with a domestic incident at about 11 p.m. Tuesday, police said. He was held on a $25,000 bond and was to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Church Hill Road: A Toyota station wagon, driven by Carmen Soto, 59, of 3210 N. 72 Ave., Hollywood, FL, and a Toyota sedan, driven by Mary E. Cleary, 69, of 576A Heritage Village, Southbury, collided in front of 66 Church Hill Road as the station wagon attempted to turn into the driveway of the Blue Colony Driver at about 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, police said. Soto, who was given a verbal warning for failure to grant right of way, was treated and released at the scene.

Farrell Road: A Ford pickup, operated by Jose C. Minchala, 18, of 29 Old Hawleyville Road, veered off of the roadway and struck a tree by 16 Farrell Road at around 12:20 p.m., Thursday, police said. Minchala said he was distracted by his dog, which was in the pickup, police said. He was taken to Danbury Hospital with pain in his forearm, police said. Minchala was charged with restricted turn.

Gelding Hill Road: A gold colored necklace with gold charms was found in the area of Gelding Hill and Russett roads on Thursday, police said. The owner can pick up the necklace at the police department if the item can be described in detail.

Hattertown Road (Monroe): A 13-year-old boy coming home from school Thursday afternoon noticed a window had been damaged in front of his family's Hattertown Road home, according to a police report. Inside, the house had been ransacked and police detectives are now investigating a burglary. The victims are taking an inventory of their belongings to determine what items are missing. The incident, which occurred near the Newtown line, was reported at 3:59 p.m. Anyone who saw suspicious cars on the road or anything out of the norm that day, should call Det. Main Street (police department): Brian Demers, 40, of 144 Eliott Ave., Waterbury, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and violation of parole in connection with a shoplifting incident after turning himself in on an outstanding warrant at about 3:40 p.m., Thursday, police said. He was released on a $1,000 bond and is to appear October 1 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

South Main Street: Janice Berry, 40, of 34 Lakes Road, Bethelehem, was charged with driving with a suspended license following a motor vehicle stop on South Main Street at about 9:30 p.m., Thursday, police said. She was released on a written promise to appear Sept. 29 in state Superior Court.

Wasserman Way: Christopher L. Johnson, 23, of 199 Hanover Road, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license and operating an unregistered vehicle following a motor vehicle stop at about 6 p.m., Tuesday on Wasserman Way, police said. He was released on a promise to appear Sept. 30 in state Superior Court in Danbury.
