Concerned students brought the information forward to local authorities.

A potential safety threat at Newtown High School was investigated and found to be unwarranted.
According to the school’s Facebook page, a group of students were overheard discussing issues that had the potential to impact school safety. Concerned students brought this information forward and it was reviewed by local authorities.
Due to the concern, police had extra patrols at the school Monday morning, WFSB reports.

“We want to assure you that we are confident that staff and students are safe at Newtown High School,” Principal of Newtown High School, Dr. Lorrie Rodrigue wrote on Facebook. “In the future, I want to commend and encourage any student who brings forward information that continues to contribute to the safety, security, and welfare of all members of our school community.”
