Red Cross Needs Blood: Here's Where To Donate In Newtown In September

NEWTOWN, CT —The American Red Cross is having two blood drive events in Newtown in September.

Blood donations will be accepted in the Church Hall of the Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street.

The first event will be held on Sept. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the second on Sept. 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Appointments may be made online here and entering the event code 5320, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

Hospitals in Connecticut are still recovering from the squeeze the coronavirus pandemic put on the supply of available blood. The stock for certain blood types dwindled to less than a day's supply, according to the Red Cross.
